Chelsea defeat Newcastle and Fulham beat Everton. EFL Cup

On Tuesday, December 19, the first quarter-final matches of the EFL Cup took place. Port Vale played Middlesbrough, Everton played Fulham and the main match of the day was Chelsea vs Newcastle.

Chelsea vs Newcastle - 2:1 (penalties)

Chelsea started the match more actively, but Newcastle were the first to score. After a mistake by centre-back Badiashil, Wilson went one-on-one with the goalkeeper and beat him. It seemed that the match was heading towards a minimal victory for the Magpies, but in stoppage time, Trippier also made a mistake in the penalty area. Mykhailo Mudryk took the opportunity to equalise. This goal saved the Blues and took the game to penalties.

In a series of post-match shots, it was the hosts who were more accurate. Unrealised shots by Trippier and Ritchie decided the fate of the game. Chelsea wins on penalties 4-2 and moves on.

Everton - Fulham - 1:2 (penalties)
