The Catalans have now won all seven of their opening La Liga fixtures, leaving Real Madrid with considerable ground to make up after the derby defeat.
It is worth noting that Atlético Madrid came into this encounter following two consecutive league victories, having beaten Real Sociedad 3-0 and Osasuna 4-0. Real Madrid's previous defeat in the competition came on September 4, when they lost 1-0 away to Real Betis.
