Liverpool triumphed over Newcastle on home turf in Matchweek 24 of the English Premier League. This clash proved to be a milestone for the Reds’ summer signing, Hugo Ekitike.
The forward fired in a quickfire double late in the first half, matching a remarkable feat set by Robbie Fowler during the 1994/1995 season. The Frenchman netted twice in just 129 seconds, having previously scored a brace against Leeds in December in only 109 seconds. Since Fowler, no Liverpool player had managed two Premier League braces in a single season so quickly.

It’s worth noting that Liverpool sealed a 4-1 victory, climbing to fifth place—though Manchester United could overtake them if they win their match this round. Ekitike himself has now reached 10 Premier League goals this season.
