Spain and Croatia met in the opening game of Group B at Euro 2024. Bookmakers on the eve of the game considered Furia Roja as the favourite, but not an obvious one, as they gave the odds of about 1.9 for its victory.
Nevertheless, Spain won easily, scoring three goals before the break. Only four shots on goal were enough: Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Daniel Carvajal virtually secured Spain's victory in the first half.
After the break, Croatia's best chance came ten minutes before the final whistle, when the Magpies earned a penalty. However, Bruno Petkovic failed to convert the chance and in the second phase of that attack, Perisic's goal was cancelled due to offside.
Spain take an important step towards the Euro 2024 play-offs. The Furia Roja will face Italy in the next round. Croatia will face Albania - if they don't win that game, they can almost forget about qualifying for the top 16 in Europe.
