Memphis Depay Pledges Support for Ghana's Asante Kotoko During Festive Visit
Dutch football star Memphis Depay has come back to Ghana once more. During his trip, he spent time with Kumasi Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most famous football teams. Depay, who now plays for Corinthians in Brazil, went to Kotoko’s training center in Adarko Jachie and pledged to help the club grow.
The 30-year-old forward, who boasts Ghanaian roots, was candid about the challenges the players face. “Training on these pitches is not easy; the ball bounces too much, making it hard to control. I respect your determination despite these conditions,” Depay remarked. “I’m brainstorming with the team here to find solutions, and I’ll do my best to help improve the situation.”
Depay revealed a bold proposal to set up a friendly game between Asante Kotoko and Corinthians in Brazil in addition to fixing infrastructure. This is your chance to perform on a global platform and display your ability. Let’s work to make it happen,” he added, inspiring hope among the players and fans.
Depay has previously sponsored a boxing match in Accra while on vacation in Ghana over the Christmas season. His dedication to returning to his origins and advancing football in the West African country is demonstrated by his ongoing participation with Ghana.
