Memphis Depay has confirmed that he has been granted free agent status

Winger of the Netherlands national team, Memphis Depay, has confirmed that he is leaving Atletico Madrid as a free agent. The Madrid club decided not to activate the clause to extend the player's contract for another year.

"Yes, I am now a free agent and can go wherever I want this summer. But I am not holding preliminary talks with any club because I am focused on the upcoming Euro 2024," the winger quoted Fabrizio Romano.

It is worth noting that Atletico Madrid is considering signing forward Artem Dovbyk from Girona or Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal. As it is known, Madrid has been monitoring Sorloth for a long time, but became interested in him now because he is having the most productive season of his career. Dovbyk is seen as a breakout player of the championship.

By the way, experienced Atletico defender Stefan Savic is open to career changes. The Montenegrin defender may leave Madrid in the summer, despite recently extending his contract with the club until June 2025.
