Medical update on Alexander-Arnold's injury in Bournemouth match
Liverpool’s key right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was unable to finish his side’s Premier League match against Bournemouth (2-0) in matchweek 24, appearing to have suffered a minor injury that led to his substitution.
However, independent medical analysts do not expect the injury to keep him out for long.
"Based off where he was palpating, as well as the physio's tests, it seems to be a quad injury," wrote Physio Scout | Football Injury Analysis on X (formerly Twitter). "Nothing to indicate a serious injury based off the game footage, and Slot added that he "felt something."
"Unlikely a cork/contusion with that description, it's more likely a quad strain or just general tightness."
Possible recovery timeline:
- If quad tightness: Less than a week
- If quad strain: 2-6 weeks
"If I were to estimate, it's probably more likely just quad tightness. Even if it is just discomfort, he'll be racing the clock to make Liverpool's clash vs. Spurs," the medical team added.
Alexander-Arnold’s crucial role and future uncertainty
Alexander-Arnold remains a vital figure for Liverpool this season, having played 31 matches in the Premier League, scoring 4 goals.
Meanwhile, speculation continues about his future, as his contract expires at the end of the season and has yet to be extended.
