Mbappé could switch sporting nationality! Algeria seeks to cap Ethan Mbappé for their national team
The Algerian national team is considering inviting Ethan Mbappé, the younger brother of Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé, to play for their squad.
Details: According to the Winwin portal, the Algerian Football Federation has set its sights on Ethan Mbappé. This move is seen as part of the federation’s ambitious strategy to attract young dual-nationality talents, similar to the recent naturalization of Luca Zidane, the son of legendary Zinedine Zidane.
The 18-year-old Ethan Mbappé, currently playing for Lille, has Algerian roots through his mother, Fayza Lamari. The Algerian side plans to start negotiations with the player after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with his mother—who actively manages both sons’ careers—expected to play a key role in the process.
Reports indicate that the younger Mbappé might accept Algeria’s offer, as his chances of breaking into France’s senior squad remain slim due to fierce competition.
This season, Mbappé has featured in just five matches for Lille, scoring twice.
Reminder: UEFA will sanction Lille president Olivier Létang for criticizing refereeing during the match against PAOK.
