Manchester City confidently defeated Newcastle in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup with a score of 2:0. The Citizens secured victory thanks to a brace from Bernardo Silva.

This victory is notable because the Blues have reached the semifinals of the tournament for the sixth consecutive time, setting a record that no other club has achieved before.

The last time City failed to reach the semifinals was in the 2017/18 season when they were defeated in the fifth round by Wigan Athletic.

It's worth noting that City hasn't performed particularly well in these semifinals historically. They have lost three out of the last five FA Cup semifinals. Manchester City couldn't overcome this stage for three consecutive seasons - in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

However, they broke the curse last season by defeating Sheffield United 3:0 and then overcoming their main rival Manchester United 2:1 in the final battle for the trophy.
