Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz is widely expected to leave the club this summer, but one of the front-runners for his signature has just pulled out of the chase.
Details: According to Sky Sports, Manchester City no longer plans to pursue the signing of Wirtz.
Talks between Man City and Wirtz never reached an advanced stage, and the club has now decided not to push forward with the transfer.
The Manchester City board considers the transfer fee too steep and has chosen to shift its focus to signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest instead.
Bayern Munich remains the leading contender to land Wirtz.
Across 197 appearances for Bayer in his career so far, Wirtz has racked up 57 goals and 65 assists.
