Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Aubrey Modiba on new signing Monnapule Saleng: He will add value to our team as he is quality and an international player

Aubrey Modiba has hailed the arrival of Monnapule Saleng at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Bafana Bafana left-back says Saleng is a player of good quality and deserving of a move to Sundowns.

Saleng joined the Brazilians this week from Orlando Pirates via Orbit College, where he was on loan from Pirates.

“He’s a very good signing for us, we know what he can do and what he used to do in his previous teams,” Modiba told the media during the Nedbank Cup’s Round of 32 draw.

“We know the qualities that he has as a player. Those are the qualities that are going to help us in the team. We’ve seen him in the competitions how he has helped the teams that he has played for. He has played in the Champions League.

Saleng’s arrival at Chloorkop took Modiba and his team-mates by surprise, like the whole football fraternity was.

“He was part of the national team and hopefully he can go back and help us. Very quality signing, he was a surprise for all of us, I was also surprised,” Modiba said.

“I’m happy that he’s part of us and hopefully he can hit the ground running.”

Sundowns face Orbit College tomorrow in a Betway Premiership match at home as they try to go pound for pound with Orlando Pirates who are on top of the PSL standings.

Pirates have played 12 games and have 28 points while Sundowns have played a game more with 26 points.
