Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso on their clash against Al Hilal: We will take the game to the level we need to take it to
Miguel Cardoso has highlighted that Mamelodi Sundowns are not in Rwanda on casual trip as he said they are there to take their game a different level.
Sundowns face Al Hilal in Kigali this evening in their Caf Champions League return match having drawn 2-2 against the Sudanese side, a week ago today in South Africa.
“We must show strong commitment. We didn’t travel this far to just come and not take the game to the level we have to take it. I think both teams understand the importance of this game in terms of the final group stage,” Cardoso told his club website.
“We have a Champions League Group Stage to finish. We want to obviously want to proceed in the competition, while also preparing for the Nedbank Cup. So, this is a challenge for a Mamelodi Sundowns coach and players.”
Cardoso cautioned that last week his team conceded silly goals through their mistakes and this is something they plan to avoid in the second leg.
“We played a good match at home against a strong opponent. It was a tricky match because I think the team played well enough to collect the points that we got in the end, but we were punished for the mistakes we made,” the coach said.
“We are excited to play here, especially with the good conditions. Let’s hope we have the spirit to fight until the end because we have been afforded the conditions to do that.”
The match starts at 9pm.
