Legendary AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini has been officially appointed as the technical director of the Italian national team. The announcement was made by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
The new leadership of Italian football, headed by FIGC president Giovanni Malagò, has entrusted Maldini with one of the pivotal roles in a sweeping overhaul of the national squad. Assisting the former 'Rossoneri' captain will be ex-sporting director of Milan and PSG, Leonardo, who has been named as a consultant.
