Tom Lockyer collapsed on the field after suffering a cardiac arrest during Luton Town's match against Bournemouth on December 16th. Following the implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator, the captain of the 'Hatters' was given clearance to leave the hospital. He managed from a distance to witness his team's victories over Newcastle and Sheffield United. Rob Edwards, the team's coach, provided an update on his captain's condition, stating that the midfielder is already bored at home but is in good spirits, recovering after the incident.

"I speak to him every day. He's progressing. He's bored already, it seems, but overall, he's in good spirits, which is really good.

He was mocking my Christmas sneakers I wore in the game against Sheffield United, so yeah, he's all good. I think we were in a tense state, but I don't think that because of this incident, we won two matches. Even before this, the team's performances were good; these guys are an incredibly cohesive group, like a family.

And obviously, a few weeks ago, one of our family members went through really tough times, so we all need to come together, support each other, and help. If it brought us closer, that's good, but the main thing is that Tom is okay."

Luton has improved their form since the incident during the Bournemouth game and has won their last two matches, including a remarkable 3-2 victory over Sheffield United midweek. The 'Hatters' are now hoping to alter their fate, sitting eighteenth in the Premier League, one point behind Everton, who have played an additional game. Their next match is against Chelsea today at their home ground.
