İlkay Gündoğan commented on his return to Manchester City

İlkay Gündoğan departed Manchester City in the summer of 2023 to join Barcelona, but within a year, he has returned to the Citizens.

He expressed that his seven years with Manchester City were a period of pure joy, both on and off the pitch. He matured as both a person and a player, and he is thrilled to be back in England.

"Having the opportunity to return here means a great deal to me. Everyone knows how much I respect Pep – he is the best manager in the world – and working with him daily makes you a better player. You experience a constant challenge, which is exactly what any professional desires. I can’t wait to work with him again," Gündoğan stated.

He added that he eagerly anticipates donning the City jersey once more. It’s worth noting that his contract with the club extends until June 2025.
