Liverpool continues its search for a new head coach, as Jürgen Klopp announced back in January that this season would be his last at the club. The new favorite for this position is Feyenoord's head coach, Arne Slot.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool's initial contacts with Slot ended very positively. The parties have agreed to meet again in the coming days to discuss the final details of a possible deal.

However, the issue lies with Slot's contract with Feyenoord, which runs until the summer of 2026. There is no release clause in the 45-year-old coach's contract, and Feyenoord will demand compensation from Liverpool for their coach. This was the main stumbling block in Slot's negotiations with Tottenham last summer, which ultimately led Tottenham to opt for Ange Postecoglou.

Previously, Sporting's head coach, Ruben Amorim, was considered the favorite for the Liverpool head coach position, but in recent days, the club has backed away from this option.

Under Slot's leadership this season, Feyenoord won the Dutch Cup, and in the previous season, they triumphed in the Eredivisie.
