Sporting Lisbon's head coach Ruben Amorim is no longer the top priority for Liverpool as a replacement for Jürgen Klopp, who is leaving the club in the summer.

According to The Athletic insider David Ornstein, Liverpool considered Amorim as a candidate, but has not yet reached an agreement that he would be the main coach of the team. There have been no direct contacts with the coach himself from Liverpool yet.

At the same time, it is reported that Amorim may continue his career at another English club. West Ham is also interested in inviting him and plans to dismiss David Moyes after the season ends.

Previously, Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Javier Alonso, was Liverpool's priority, but the Spaniard decided to stay at his current club for the next season.

Before Sporting, Amorim coached Braga. He took over the "Lions" in March 2020. Under Amorim's leadership, Sporting won the Portuguese championship in the 2020/21 season.

Currently, Sporting leads the Primeira table, ahead of Benfica by 10 points.
