Liverpool, contenders for the English title, hosted Sheffield United, the league's main underdog, at Anfield.

The Merseysiders started the match without training, gradually exerting pressure on the Blades' defense. The Reds' aggressive attacking play led to a bizarre error by the visitors' goalkeeper, Grbic, after which Nunez opened the scoring.

Overall, the home team enjoyed a significant advantage in the first half and could have scored more. However, both teams went into halftime with the favorite holding a narrow lead.

Early in the second half, the hosts eased off, contrary to the expectations of the fans. They were duly punished. In the 58th minute, following a shot from the Blades, the ball ricocheted off Bradley and ended up in Kelleher's net.

Klopp's men rushed to rectify the situation, but the Blades successfully resisted their onslaught for a long time. However, Mac Allister's thunderous strike in the 78th minute almost tore the net and put his team ahead for the second time.

The Reds denied the guests any further comeback opportunities. Instead, they added another goal: Gakpo sealed the match.

Liverpool returned to the top of the league, leading Arsenal by two points and Manchester City by three. In the next round, Klopp's team will face Manchester United on April 7.
