The Copa America continues in the USA, with national teams from across the Americas competing for the trophy. Yesterday, group stage matches took place in Group C, one of which featured Uruguay against Bolivia.

The match ended in a resounding 5-0 victory for Uruguay, with Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez scoring the second goal. This goal marked Núñez’s tenth goal for the national team in the last seven matches, setting a new record. He has scored against Costa Rica, Brazil, Panama, Mexico, Bolivia, and Argentina, and this week he once again netted a record-breaking goal against Bolivia.

No Uruguayan player has achieved such a milestone since the legendary Héctor Scarone did so in 1927–1928.

Núñez has a total of 38 goals in 51 matches for the national team. Currently, the top scorer for Uruguay is Luis Suárez, with 68 goals. Although the former Barcelona player has a significant lead, the Liverpool star has plenty of opportunities ahead to break the national team’s scoring record.
