Liverpool match unwanted Anfield record
Liverpool hosted Sunderland in their Premier League Matchday 14 fixture and failed to break down the visitors, settling for a 1–1 draw. In doing so, they matched an unwelcome streak.
Details: According to Opta, Liverpool have failed to win three consecutive home matches in all competitions for the first time since 2021. They previously lost 1–4 to PSV and 1–4 to Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool now sit eighth in the Premier League table with 22 points after 14 rounds. They are just two points off the top four, so the situation is far from critical.
Meanwhile, Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah once again started on the bench. The Merseyside manager explained that Salah’s absence from the starting XI was not tied to any issues with the player.
Reminder: The Premier League annulled Florian Wirtz’s first goal for Liverpool, officially crediting it as an own goal by a defender.
