Liverpool are aware of Real Madrid's interest in their defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and are ready to retain their leader at all costs.

According to HITC, Trent and Liverpool entered into talks over a new contract back in January, and the Scousers are confident of signing the 25-year-old before the start of the European Championships. Both sides are happy with the co-operation, Alexander-Arnold himself does not want to leave Anfield, just as the club does not want to let him go.

As a recognition of the outstanding form of the defender, Liverpool are ready to make him the highest paid player of the team. The source does not name the figures, but according to Capology, the current one with a salary of 18.2 million pounds a year is centre-back Virgil van Dijk. Alexander-Arnold himself is paid almost half as much - £9.4 million a year.
