In the match against Fulham, Liverpool manager Arne Slot received a yellow card from the referee, his third of the season. As a result, the Dutchman faced his first suspension in England, unable to lead his team from the sidelines in the EFL Cup match against Southampton. Slot compared the suspension rules in England to those in his homeland.

Details: As Liverpool's head coach noted, the suspension for the cup match against Southampton felt like a "lighter version" of what he would face in the Netherlands, as he was still allowed to provide instructions to the team in the dressing room, which is prohibited in Dutch football.

Quote: "It doesn’t impact as much as I thought because if you're suspended in the Netherlands, you're not allowed in the dressing room or near it, and you can’t speak to the press. So, this is a lighter version of suspension, something I’m somewhat familiar with. But I’ve never been used to being suspended—it’s my first time.

I think I can still do what I want. The least influence you have is during the 45 minutes of play. The most impact you can have is at halftime or before the game, and those are things I can still do. But ideally, I’d just be on the touchline. However, I got a yellow card that I probably deserved, and these things happen," the coach said at a press conference.

Reminder: Slot had previously commented on Diogo Jota’s form following his injury.
