The Los Angeles Lakers have finally decided on the name of the team's new head coach. However, his name surprised everyone.

As Adrian Wojnarowski reports, the Lakers will be coached by 39-year-old J.J. Redick. What is interesting is that Redick has never worked as a coach before.

Redick was an NBA commentator this past season, and his YouTube podcast has over a million subscribers. It was how Lakers bosses heard Redick's interesting tactical ideas that convinced them.

As a reminder, the Lakers sent Darwin Gam retired after a first-round playoff exit last NBA season.

As a player, Redick played most of his career for the Orlando Magic. He also has experience playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia Sixers and Dallas Mavericks. He finished his career in 2021 and played a total of 15 years in the NBA.
