Bordeaux is one of the most historic clubs in France, but due to financial troubles, it is currently playing in the fourth division. The club might soon have an unexpected new owner.
Details: According to Sud Ouest, Bayern Munich legend Oliver Kahn has begun negotiations to purchase the club.
The former goalkeeper is interested in becoming the club's president and restoring it to the top level of competition.
It is noted that the intermediary in the negotiations is former Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud. If the deal is finalized, Kahn and Eyraud will jointly manage the club.
However, there is speculation that Kahn may have backing from Saudi investors, as he has visited the country multiple times in recent years.
From 2021 to 2023, Oliver Kahn served as CEO of Bayern Munich but was dismissed due to poor results.
Reminder: This season, former Liverpool and England forward Andy Carroll is playing for Bordeaux in the fourth division.
