Klopp's replacement. Liverpool have agreed a deal with the Portuguese coach

It appears that Sporting's head coach, Ruben Amorim, will be joining Liverpool from the next season onwards.

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool has reached a fundamental verbal agreement with Amorim for a three-year contract. The club and the coach only need to discuss the final details.

For Amorim's transfer, Liverpool will pay Sporting Lisbon €10 million.

Previously, Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Javier Alonso, was Liverpool's priority, but the Spaniard decided to stay at his current club for the next season.

Recall that Jurgen Klopp officially announced in late January that he would leave Liverpool after the season ends.

Before Sporting, Amorim coached Braga. He took over the "Lions" in March 2020. Under Amorim's guidance, Sporting won the Portuguese championship in the 2020/21 season.

In the current Primeira Liga season, Sporting is in first place after 28 rounds. The "Lions" are ahead of Benfica by 4 points and have one match in hand.

Last week, Amorim himself spoke for the first time at a press conference about a possible departure from Sporting.
