Khelif responds to Trump's ban on transgender athletes participating in women's competitions
Controversial 2024 Olympic boxer Iman Khelif commented on U.S. President Donald Trump's directive banning transgender athletes from participating in women's competitions.
Details: In a statement to iTV News, the Algerian boxer said she is not concerned or intimidated by such a directive since she is not a transgender athlete.
Quote: "The U.S. President made a decision regarding transgender policy in America. But I am not transgender, it doesn't concern or scare me," she declared.
Khelif also added that the scandal at the Olympics greatly affected her and her family. She notes that the situation went beyond a sports issue, and she had to consult doctors to avoid falling into depression.
Previously, we reported that Iman Khelif announced her intention to file a lawsuit against a French journalist. The issue arose when he claimed to have obtained a copy of a medical examination proving that Khelif has a disorder of sexual development typical of males.
Reminder: The IOC Executive Board recommended keeping boxing in the 2028 Olympic Games program, as stated by IOC President Thomas Bach.
