Kaylin Swart admits to Banyana Banyana's poor start but vows they will fight against Burkina Faso

Kaylin Swart has admitted they underestimated the expectations of the ongoing WAFCON but vowed Banyana Banyana will rise against Burkina Faso tomorrow.

The South African's women national side have a single point after two matches and their chances of making it to the next round are hanging by a thread.

Ivory Coast top the group with four points, Tanzania are second with three, while Burkina Faso and South Africa are third and fourth with three and one point respectively.

The above gives a clear picture of why it is a must win game for Swart and her Banyana team-mates.

“I don’t think we realised how much it was going to take for us to be where we are, mentally we didn’t expect it. Tomorrow is another battle and we are ready, we can’t talk about the past, we have to focus on this match," said Swart, who was between the sticks in the 2-2 draw against Ivory Coast having missed the opening game against Tanzania.

"It is going to take everything from us to get a result. Our spirit has never faltered despite the results. I am excited because it is going to be a battle, it is what we would call the group of death. It will be a tough match, and both teams are under pressure, but then again sometimes pressure is what we need to do well because it is part of the game."
