Jean-Pierre Nsamé has made history in Swiss football! The 31-year-old Cameroonian striker scored a brace in FC St. Gallen’s 2-1 victory over FC Zurich, equaling Marco Streller’s record of 111 goals in the Swiss Super League.
Loaned from Como this winter, Nsamé needed just three matches to match the all-time top scorer record since the league’s rebranding in 2003. His goals helped St. Gallen secure a crucial win and stay five points behind leaders Basel.
Speaking after the match, Nsamé expressed his pride: “I can proudly say that I sit at the table of Marco Streller, who was a great goal scorer in Swiss football.”
With Young Boys, he has won the league six times and finished as the top scorer three times, demonstrating his dominance in Swiss football. He set a new record with 32 goals in 2019–20, which was his greatest season.
He has a fantastic chance to become the league's all-time best scorer by himself with 15 games left. His next opportunity is against Yverdon, a side he has previously scored against.
Jean-Pierre Nsamé is poised to write another chapter in the history of Swiss football, and his goal-scoring instinct is still sharp!
