Is Pérez preparing a replacement? Real have chosen a new coach in case Mourinho leaves
José Mourinho's future at Real Madrid could come under threat if the team's results fail to meet the board's expectations. According to information circulating on social media and attributed to Radio MARCA, Florentino Pérez is reportedly considering bringing in Didier Deschamps if the need arises to replace the Portuguese coach.
Deschamps is one of France's most decorated coaches. As a player, he captained the France team that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. He later achieved even greater recognition in management: under his guidance, France became world champions in 2018, reached the 2022 World Cup final and won the Nations League in 2021.
Deschamps began his club management career at Monaco in 2001. With the team, he won the French League Cup and reached the Champions League final in 2004. He then took charge of Juventus, helping the club return to Serie A after relegation to the second division. In 2009, the Frenchman took over at Marseille, winning the French championship and several domestic trophies. In 2012, Deschamps became head coach of the France national team and remained in the post until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
