The new season of the English Premier League kicked off yesterday, with Manchester United facing Fulham in the opening match.

Today, the English top flight begins to pick up momentum, and the first match of the day will see newly promoted Ipswich Town take on last season's third-place finisher, Liverpool.

Ipswich secured second place in the Championship last season, earning a direct promotion to the Premier League alongside Leicester. Over the summer, the team played four friendlies, winning three of them, and is now ready to make its mark in England's elite division.

Liverpool, on the other hand, underwent a major change this summer with the arrival of a new head coach. Dutch manager Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp, who had become a legendary figure at the club. During the off-season, Liverpool played five friendlies, winning all but the last one.

Ahead of the match, Ipswich head coach Kieran McKenna acknowledged the challenge they face but expressed hope for strong home support. Their first Premier League match of the season will be played at their home stadium.

"Liverpool is one of the best teams in the league and in Europe. We know it will be a tough game, but we also know that the match will be at Portman Road, and we will have almost 30,000 fans behind us.

Our supporters will give us incredible backing every second of the game, and I know the players will give their all on the pitch," McKenna stated.

Meanwhile, Slot, in his pre-match press conference, admitted to some nerves but was excited for the season to start and eager to show what his team has been preparing for.

"Of course, I'm excited. I think after pre-season, it's always a pleasure, whether you're a player, manager, or coach, to start the season because it's what you've been working towards for the last few weeks.

Pre-season games meant something to me, even though they don't count for points. But I think it's important to prepare the team for the Premier League. Now we're ready to start the season against a team that has been promoted to the Premier League and has performed very well under their manager in recent years. It will be interesting to see what awaits us tomorrow," Slot remarked.

Both managers are likely to field their strongest lineups to secure points in the season opener. The Dailysports team has prepared the probable starting lineups for both teams.
