Independent regulatory commission approves Everton sale to new owners
The saga surrounding Everton’s ownership change is nearing its conclusion, as all necessary approvals have been granted, paving the way for an official announcement.
Details: Insider Ben Jacobson has reported that the Independent Regulatory Commission has approved the sale of Everton to the Friedkin Group. With all permissions secured, the official announcement is set for Thursday, December 19.
Representatives of the new ownership group are also expected to attend Everton's upcoming match against Chelsea this weekend.
Just a few days ago, the Premier League gave the green light for the ownership transfer, clearing another major hurdle in the process.
Reminder: In late September, Friedkin’s company purchased 94.1% of Everton’s shares from Moshiri. The transaction amount remains undisclosed. Everton is currently 16th in the Premier League table with 15 points after 15 matches, with one game in hand. The Toffees sit just three points above the relegation zone, adding urgency to their need for stability under new ownership.
