In Rabat, A Historic Agreement Will be Signed for The Headquarters of The African Clubs Association
Just hours before the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 draw at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat at 7pm on monday, January 27, the African Clubs Association (ACA) will sign official agreement for its offices at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora. A landmark event for african football, the signing ceremony is scheduled around 3:30pm.
Rabat has been selected as the headquarters of the ACA, which was founded in Cairo, Egypt, on November 30, 2023, and is headed by Hersi Ally Said, the president of Young Africans (Tanzania). This choice demonstrates significant dedication to football's growth throughout the continent. The moroccan offer received substantial support from the ACA board, but the algerian bid, although heavily backed, was unable to gain the headquarters.
The ACA, which has about 90 clubs as members, seeks to improve ties between african clubs and simplify club football administration throughout the continent. Significant turning point in african football history, the agreement signing on January 27 highlights morocco's strategic significance for the development of the sport on the continent.
Prominent representatives from african clubs, such as Mohamed Boudrika (Raja Casablanca), Khaled Abdelkader (Al Ahly, Egypt), Rodney Edmond Michael (Mighty Blackpool FC, Sierra Leone) and others, are on the ACA's executive board. They are all committed to improving the continental football scene.
