Álvarez is reportedly not entirely happy at Atlético and may be considering a move away from the club.
Details: In a recent flash interview, former England striker and current Sky Sports pundit Gary Lineker commented on the possible transfer of 25-year-old Argentine Julián Álvarez to London’s Arsenal.
In Lineker’s view, Álvarez’s arrival would make the Gunners’ attack a formidable force, effectively ending the title race this season:
“It’s probably complete nonsense, because most of these rumors start on social media... But I’ve seen some clubs being linked with Julián Álvarez, and I know he’s not entirely happy at Atlético.
Julián is the kind of player who, as you know, can handle the big moments. He’s a damn World Cup winner.
Someone like that at Arsenal would be game over.” Lineker stated.
Earlier reports in the media suggested that several top clubs are ready to battle for Álvarez, with Arsenal among them. For their part, Atlético have made it clear they have no intention of letting their star go for less than €200 million.
This season, Álvarez has played 29 matches, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists. Transfermarkt currently values him at €100 million, and his contract with the Colchoneros runs until 2030.
