Newcastle are on the verge of wrapping up a blockbuster move to bolster their midfield ranks.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Nico González. The deal is set at £47 million as a fixed fee plus £3 million in add-ons.
The 24-year-old gave his final approval to the move after decisive progress was made in negotiations overnight. Reports say Nico is eager to join the Magpies project, where head coach Matthias Jaissle sees him as a key first-team player.
It’s worth noting that Nico González joined Manchester City from Porto in February 2025. Over one and a half seasons with the Citizens, the Spanish midfielder made 59 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals. According to Transfermarkt, his market value stands at €40 million.
