Italian football is once again putting its faith in tried-and-true names.

Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Claudio Ranieri is set to become the new technical director of the Italian Football Federation. The decision has already been made—this seasoned expert is expected to receive broad authority and become one of the leading figures within the national team structure.

At the same time, Roberto Mancini is returning as head coach of the Italian national team. Federation president Giovanni Malagò has confirmed the choice, although both parties still need to finalize some formalities before the appointment is official.

This move forms a new leadership duo for the federation: Mancini will be responsible for the team's on-field results, while Ranieri will oversee the technical direction and the development of Italy's footballing project.

Mancini previously led the Azzurri from 2018 to 2023, guiding them to Euro 2020 glory, where Italy famously defeated England in a penalty shootout in the final.

Reminder: OFFICIAL! It has been revealed whether Pirlo will lead the Italian national team.
