“He saw how many goals Rodri scored in that position”. Guardiola on Kovacic brace
In the seventh round of the Premier League, Manchester City secured a home victory over Fulham, with midfielder Mateo Kovacic scoring twice in the match.
After the game, City’s head coach Pep Guardiola praised Kovacic and made a comparison to the injured Rodri, who typically plays in a similar role.
Quote: "Kovacic? He's not known for being a prolific scorer, but maybe he saw how many goals Rodri has scored from that position and decided to copy-paste. He scored two fantastic goals today.
It's tough to face such a strong team after a Champions League game, and Fulham is an incredible side. Marco [Silva] has been there for several years, and they brought in some very talented and experienced players [this summer]. We knew it would be hard, but we got the win," Guardiola told Sky Sports.
Reminder: City’s current unbeaten streak in the Premier League has now extended to 30 matches, equalling the club record set by Guardiola’s squad during the 2017/18 season.
