Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai, one of Liverpool's most important players, expressed his optimism that his teammate Mohamed Salah will stay with the team for a very long time, after their exciting 3-2 victory over Southampton in the twelfth round of the English Premier League, on Sunday. Salah, who scored twice, and Szoboszlai, who added another, combined to give Liverpool a vital victory that extends their lead at the top of the Premier League to 8 points over second-placed Manchester City.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Szoboszlai praised Salah’s importance to the team, saying: “Salah is very, very important, everyone knows Mo, he just needs to keep going. I hope I can play with him for as long as possible.”
Salah now boasts 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 games this season, with his contract at Liverpool expiring in the summer of 2025. No renewal agreement has been reached yet.
Addressing the early Premier League title race, Szoboszlai added: "It’s still the start of the season. We need to keep going and not worry about City, Arsenal, and the other teams. As long as we keep doing what we’re doing now, we’ll continue. You’ve seen the last six years – it’s never over until it’s over.”
