Federico Chiesa is still finding it tough to adapt to English football, as he’s rarely featured for Liverpool so far. But against Brighton, he was finally given his chance—making his first start since moving to Anfield. And Arne Slot was pleased with what he saw.

Details: The Liverpool head coach said Chiesa delivered even more on the pitch against Brighton than he had anticipated.

Quote: “Federico’s biggest quality is scoring goals. The more often he finds himself in the box, the more chances he has to score. He had a great chance just before Mo had his big opportunity. For Federico, a shot from 18 yards is a very good chance because he finishes those situations so well.

I think he did even more than I could expect from him, because if you haven’t played all season, hardly started, and then you go away to Brighton—a very good side, eighth in the league, who can bring on Mitoma with 20 minutes to go—that tells you everything about this league. The fact that he was out for so long and played in a game like this is more than I could have asked from him,” Slot said.

Reminder: Earlier reports suggested Chiesa could return to Italy this summer, with Napoli and Milan both showing interest in the Liverpool winger.
