Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola commented on his team's 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the opening match of the Premier League season.

"I didn’t expect this. We are far from our best form, so three points is good news. The bad news is that we have 65 more games ahead.

We have an advantage over our competitors: it’s our ninth season together, so we know each other very well. Of course, there are mistakes that need to be corrected, but as we’ve said before, the difference in being champions lies in our body language and how we conduct ourselves.

It’s the difficult moments in the season and in games that define great teams. It’s an honor for me to coach these guys. I’m so fortunate that I can't say more," Pep said after the match.

The victory was secured by goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovačić.

Next Saturday, August 24, Guardiola's team will face Premier League newcomers Ipswich.
