Chelsea hosted Manchester City in the first round of the English Premier League.

This was the first official match for Enzo Maresca as the head coach of the "Blues."

The first half was played at a calm pace, with a slight advantage for the "Citizens." In the 18th minute, the "Blues" executed a three-pass combination - Doku to Bernardo Silva to Haaland, which the Norwegian successfully finished with a precise shot.

The teams went into halftime with a narrow lead for the "visitors." After an hour of play, the hosts had an excellent chance to equalize, but Ederson saved Jackson's shot from close range.

However, it was City who scored again. In the 84th minute, a magnificent long-range strike from outside the penalty area by Mateo Kovačić sent the ball into the left corner of Sánchez's goal, setting the final score for the match.
