GPL: Medeama Coach Ibrahim Tanko Blames Injuries and Loss of Focus for Draw Against Asante Kotoko
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says a combination of injuries and a lapse in concentration cost his team dearly in their Matchday 12 clash with Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Medeama started the match strongly, racing to a 2–0 lead, but failed to maintain their advantage as Kotoko mounted a determined second-half comeback to earn a 2–2 draw. Reflecting on the match, Tanko admitted that his side switched off at crucial moments.
“I will say we lost concentration, and I have to say that because of injuries, it was really painful,” he said. “After leading 2-0, the game ended 2-2. This is football, and we have to go and work on our mistakes.”
Tanko repeated his frustration, noting how disappointing it was for the team to surrender such a comfortable lead.
“Throwing away our two-goal lead is really painful. This is football, so we have to go back and correct our mistakes,” he added.
Despite the setback, Medeama remain second on the Ghana Premier League table, level on 23 points with leaders Aduana FC.
