Bayern Munich has identified a new candidate for the role of head coach for the upcoming season. As reported by Kicker, the Munich-based club has taken notice of Unai Emery from Aston Villa.

The German champions are impressed by Aston Villa's performance this season, as the team currently sits in fourth place after 25 rounds. Additionally, Bayern Munich places great importance on Emery's ability to excel in cup competitions. Throughout his career, Emery has won the UEFA Europa League three times with Sevilla and once with Villarreal.

Recall that yesterday, Bayern Munich officially announced that the current head coach, Thomas Tuchel, will leave the club at the end of the current season.

Following this announcement, it was reported that the preferred option for Munich to replace Tuchel is Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso. There were also mentions of interest in Zinedine Zidane and Hansi Flick.

For the first time since 2015, Bayern Munich suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions, and unexpectedly lost to Bochum (2-3) on Sunday, February 18. In the Bundesliga, Munich is currently in second place, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 8 points. In the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich lost the first leg of the round of 16 against Lazio (0-1).
