The Ghana national team have qualified for the 2026 World Cup and are already preparing for the tournament. Moreover, they are considering an intriguing option regarding part of their squad selection.

Details: according to Nahuel Lanzón, the Ghana Football Association could include three players from the domestic league in the national team squad. The reason is financial — FIFA will pay $11,000 per day for every called-up player. Even participation through the group stage alone could earn the national team around $150,000.

As a result, that money would go to three local clubs, which could have major significance for the development of the league. In the long term, these funds could even provide valuable support for the federation itself.

Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign with a match against Panama on the night of June 18. England and Croatia are also in their group.

Reminder: FIFA president Gianni Infantino has addressed the growing dissatisfaction over ticket prices for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
