The history of encounters between these teams is extensive, with their last meeting in 2021 ending in a narrow 3-2 victory for Les Bleus. They last faced each other in a major tournament at the 2018 World Cup, where France emerged victorious with a slender 1-0 win and went on to win the tournament. Belgium's last triumph over France was in a friendly match in 2015, with a score of 4-3.
