Former Manchester United legend shocked by investigation into Man City. What is the essence?
Manchester City are still under investigation over 115 breaches of financial fair play rules, and one of Manchester United’s legendary players is criticising the situation.
Details: In The Overlap podcast, former Manchester United player Gary Neville stated that he is not impressed with how long the entire situation is dragging on. Other clubs have been punished much faster.
Quote: “It is a disgrace that the investigation [115 charges] against Manchester City is taking so long! It is absolutely shocking! Meanwhile, Everton and Nottingham Forest have already been punished,” Neville said.
We previously reported that the case regarding 115 alleged financial breaches by Manchester City has been ongoing for more than a year without a final verdict being announced. After the hearings concluded in December 2024, an independent commission involving the Football Association continues to examine the collected materials.
The review covers the period from 2009 to 2018. During the 12-week tribunal, the parties presented a substantial body of evidence. According to experts, this involves around 500,000 documents and materials.
Reminder: Manchester City played out a high-scoring 3–3 draw with Everton, but during the match there was an unpleasant incident related to racism.
