Details: According to The Athletic, former England and Liverpool forward Andy Carroll appeared today before the Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded not guilty to breaching a non-molestation order. The 37-year-old footballer arrived at the hearing on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot, having undergone surgery last week to repair ligament damage and a fracture.
During the proceedings, Carroll requested that his case be transferred to Crown Court, which has greater authority than the magistrates’ court. The judge scheduled the next hearing for March 4 at Chelmsford Crown Court, where official trial preparations will begin. Until then, the veteran English footballer has been released on bail with several restrictive conditions in place.
Breaching a non-molestation order is considered a serious criminal offence in the United Kingdom. Depending on the severity of the violation, penalties can range from a fine to up to five years in prison. Such orders typically prohibit any contact with a specific person or being in close proximity to their home or workplace.
Andy Carroll is currently playing for Dagenham & Redbridge in the sixth tier of English football, where he is also a minority shareholder. This season has been particularly tough for the striker due to a string of injuries, including a hamstring problem and a recent fracture.
