The Frenchman has now scored 31 goals in the competition, moving past Sporting's Viktor Gyökeres to take the outright lead. Only Salah can catch him, but the Egyptian would need a hat-trick in Liverpool's match against Crystal Palace tomorrow to do so.

Remarkably, this campaign — his debut in a Real Madrid shirt — has seen Mbappé score 43 goals in 56 appearances.
