Back in autumn 2024, Mykhailo Mudryk and Chelsea revealed that a banned substance—meldonium—had been detected in the Ukrainian winger’s doping tests. Now, the Football Association has decided to take the matter seriously.

Details: According to The Telegraph, Mudryk has been officially charged with violating anti-doping regulations. Further specifics have not yet been disclosed, as the investigation is ongoing. However, it is known that the player could face a suspension of up to four years.

Mudryk’s camp has retained the legal firm Morgan Sports Law to handle the case. This same firm previously represented Paul Pogba during his doping case, successfully reducing his ban from four years to 18 months.

During 15 matches last season, Mudryk scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions. In the winter of 2023, Chelsea paid Shakhtar €70 million for the Ukrainian international.

Reminder: In the opening match of the Club World Cup, Chelsea confidently defeated Los Angeles 2-0. The Blues’ head coach Enzo Maresca was pleased with his team’s performance, but was surprised by the atmosphere surrounding the match.
