Fight to the last! Senegal Football Federation demands immediate halt to trophy handover to Morocco

Details: Today it was announced that the Senegal Football Federation has officially demanded that CAF immediately halt any procedures for handing over the AFCON 2025 gold medals and trophy to the Moroccan national team, after it was declared that Senegal had been handed a technical defeat in the final.

Reports indicate that the Senegalese side considers such gestures from CAF a provocation and intends to appeal to higher authorities to keep the trophy in their possession. Senegal argues that, due to their filed protest, CAF has no right to strip them of the cup and hand it over to Morocco, and therefore they demand a complete freeze on any trophy handover procedures until the legal proceedings in the arbitration court are concluded.

It was also previously reported that the Senegal Football Federation has filed an official complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding CAF's decision to award the "Teranga Lions" a technical defeat in the final against Morocco.
