FIFA Players' Voice Panel Condemns Racist Abuse of Kylian Mbappé After World Cup Clash
The FIFA Players' Voice Panel (PVP), led by honorary captain George Weah, has strongly condemned the racist abuse directed at France captain Kylian Mbappé following his side's victory over Paraguay at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In an official statement, the panel described the incident as an attack on human dignity and reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating racism and all forms of discrimination from football.
The controversy erupted after France secured a 1-0 win over Paraguay in the Round of 16. Following the match, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla reportedly posted racist remarks targeting Mbappé on social media.
The France captain responded publicly, describing Amarilla as a "despicable woman" and stating that her openly racist comments were unworthy of someone holding public office.
Reacting to the incident, George Weah expressed the panel's full support for the French forward while calling for stronger action against discrimination in football.
"We stand in complete solidarity with Kylian Mbappé and condemn this reprehensible abuse in the strongest possible terms. Football must always be a game of respect, inclusion and unity."
